This class is ideal for:
• Dogs roughly between 6 months and 3 years old — although there is no fixed age limit.
• Adolescents who have 'forgotten' their training
• Dogs who can become excited around other people and dogs
• Puppy parents who wish to learn skills to prepare them for the teenage years
Our Teen Dog Class is a structured 4-week course designed specifically for adolescent dogs navigating this challenging – and completely normal – developmental stage.
It is a targeted programme built around focus, impulse control and real-life reliability all using kind, reward-based methods to protect your relationship and develop skills that last a lifetime.
Please note: If your dog has a more intense response to other poeple or dogs, or is easily overwhelmend, our 1:1 teen dog programme may be more suitable.

We build reliable recall through fun, engaging games that increase enthusiasm for returning to you. Dogs learn that you are the real source of value and worth choosing, even around distractions.
We focus on practical loose lead walking skills, including leash handling and reward timing. Our aim is to improve connection on walks while reducing pulling and over-excitement.
Throughout the course, we work on your dog’s skills when greeting people. We will guide you through practical strategies to navigate jumping up struggles when greeting, confidently and consistently.
We teach your dog the art of disengaging from distractions and reward them for choosing you. Through structured exercises, we develop attention, focus and calmer decision-making around other dogs.
We help your dog learn how to pause, think and make better choices. Rather than simply stopping behaviours, we focus on managing excitement and responding calmly around distractions.

All training at Paw Forward Dog Training is fear-free, science-led and welfare-focused.
This is not about dominance. It is not about 'showing your dog who’s boss'. And it is not about quick fixes.
Adolescent dogs experience genuine neurological and hormonal changes. They need:
• Understanding
• Consistent reinforcement
• Emotional regulation support
• Appropriate outlets

As with all training, you get out what you put in. The more practise you do with your dog between sessions, the more improvement you will see.
By the end of the 4 weeks, we expect:
• Improved focus around other dogs
• More responsive recall
• Reduced pulling on walks
• Improved dog/human bond
Adolescence doesn’t disappear in four weeks — but with the right structure, the development of new skills, and lowered human expectations, it becomes more manageable.

All dog training classes take place at my private training field in Stoke Golding, Leicestershire – just a short drive from Hinckley, Burbage, and Nuneaton. With no random off-lead dogs, no park distractions, and plenty of space, it’s the perfect spot to learn new skills.

If you’d rather have one-on-one support with your teenage dog, our 1:1 teen dog training sessions may be just what you're looking for. Our 1:1 training programme covers all of the same skills as the group course does, just privately — all delivered at your own pace in a more distraction-controlled environment.
